Information The initial phase of our
Document Services deployment is complete. The new services will
use the Xerox document centers deployed during Term 1. The digital
technology will produce superior quality copying, printing and scanning.
Copying – The Xerox Document
Centers are capable of creating copies at 90 pages per minute. How
to make copies.
Printing – Faculty and
Staff will have the Xerox-BMO printer installed as one of your network
print options. Print jobs sent to the BMO Xerox printer will be
delivered during normal rounds at 10:00am and 2:00pm or can be picked
up from the BMO copy center. How to print.
Scanning - Everyone can scan
and e-mail documents to any recipient. The scanned documents will
be e-mailed in PDF format. How

Xerox-FOXEXPRESS
located in the Communications Area of
the Fox Student Center
Xerox-MAINLAB- coming online Term 3
to be located in the new
Main Computer Lab beginning in Term 3
Page Limits and costs. NOTE: Each student will receive an allocation
for the Xerox system of 500 pages per Term. There will be no charge
for copying/printing within this allocation. Your DukeCard FlexAccount
will be charged $0.05/page for usage beyond the Term allocation.
All other printing within the Student Computer Space (labs) remains
free.
Setting up your computer to print to the
Xerox Document Centers
Go to “Start”, select “Run”,
and then type \\josef\Xerox-FoxExpress
Select “OK”
If you are asked whether you want to open the
file or save it to a disk, choose to open it.
If you are asked for your user id and password,
enter your FuquaNet ID in this format: fuqua\userid.
Xerox-FoxExpress will now be available as one
of the choices in your print menu.
Printing, Copying & Scanning to E-mail
with the Xerox Document Centers
Note: All jobs require that you insert and leave
your DukeCard in the card reader which is attached to the Xerox-FoxExpress
machine. If the card reader detects an extended amount of inactivity,
it will emit a beeping sound and deactivate the session. Simply
remove your card and replace it in the card reader. You will be
able to continue where you left off.
Instructions for Printing
Select the Xerox-FoxExpress printer from list
of printers within the application from which you are trying to
print. Note that you need to setup your connection
to the Xerox Document Center before you can print to it.
You must enter something in both fields. It does
not matter what you type. The text will be *’d out as shown:
Hit “OK”.
Perform the following steps at the Xerox-FoxExpress
machine:
- Place and leave your DukeCard in the reader.
- Press the “Job Status” button.
- Select your print job from the list of jobs
in the touch screen
- Select “release” to print the job.
- When you are finished printing your jobs, remove
your DukeCard from the reader.
Please do not “release” or “delete”
a job if it is not yours.
Instructions for Copying
Place your document in the Xerox-FoxExpress in
the same manner as you would when copying a document at any copy
machine. Perform the following:
- Place and leave your DukeCard in the reader.
- If “Basic Copying” is not already
displayed in the touch screen, select “All Services”
and then select “Copy”. Choose your copy preferences.
- On the touch pad, enter the number of copies
you wish to make.
- Press the green “Start” button.
- Remove your DukeCard from the reader along with
your original copy.
Instructions for Scanning to e-mail
Place your document in the Xerox-FoxExpress in
the same manner as you would when copying a document at any copy
machine. Perform the following:
- Place and leave your DukeCard in the reader.
- Select “All Services” on the touch
screen.
- Select “Email”.
- Select “to…” to enter your
email address. Sample: myID@duke.edu. Hit “Enter”.
- Press the green “Start” button.
- Remove your DukeCard from the reader along with
your original copy.
