Online@Duke now offers Duke e-mail users with new options for e-mail
filtering. Duke has recently added address-specific e-mail filtering
based upon the sender’s “From” address. With this new feature users can
specify that:
incoming e-mail for specific e-mail addresses or domains be
delivered to ensure that wanted e-mails reach their inbox (eg. -- all
mail sent from *@duke.edu)
and
junk or spam messages are directed to the “junkmail” folder or
simply discarded (eg. -- marketingaddress@company.com).
This feature can be particularly useful if you are corresponding with
colleagues from another organization and some of their e-mail messages
are reported as junkmail. You can whitelist each address or the entire
domain allowing their messages to always reach your inbox. The inverse
holds true if you receive a lot of junkmail from a particular address or
domain -- you can select to have those messages sent to your junkmail
folder or discarded.
These new features are available in addition to existing e-mail
filtering capabilities already available to all users of Duke e-mail
accounts at http://www.duke.edu/online.
The Technical Support Center has a more in-depth explanation of e-mail
filtering and how to block spam at http://it.fuqua.duke.edu/tsclibrary/protect/spam.html.
Please contact the Technical Support Center at help@fuqua.duke.edu or
660-7878 for additional assistance in setting up e-mail filtering.
All the best,
Kevin Smith
