Why the Upgrade?

The latest version of Meeting Maker, version 8.5, allows us to enhance the personal scheduler links in FuquaWorld, as well as providing us with new syncing and client options. It provides new back-end functionality and has some minor improvements to the Meeting Maker client.

How to Upgrade

After the MeetingMaker database is upgraded to v.8.5, on Friday, January 14, 2005, you will no longer be able to access the Meeting Maker database with the old client. While you may work off-line, it is not recommended that you do so. Any changes you make will not be reflected in the new database and will be overwritten when you upgrade.

Instead, you are prompted that a new version of the client exists. Click 'Yes' to start the download of the new client, and follow these steps :

  1. After all the files are downloaded, the setup will start.
(approx. 9.4MB, 6-8 minutes for download)
  2. Click through the wizards accepting the defaults.
    1. If you are Palm user, and have the Palm software installed, the Wizard asks if you want to install the conduits. If you have been syncing your Palm to MeetingMaker, click ‘Yes’.
    2. Select the conduits you wish to install: AddressBook is your contacts; DateBook is the calendar; ToDos is your todo list.
    3. When prompted about restarting HotSync manager, click ‘Yes’.
  3. If you are prompted to create a backup file of your local data, have the Wizard do so.
  4. Once completed, you are given the opportunity to start Meetingmaker. Do so.
  5. You will see the login screen. Enter your MeetingMaker userid and password and click  “Sign-In”. The server, Fuqua, should already be selected. If it is not, or you get a message saying the server could not be found, follow the directions below. Otherwise, skip to the next step.
    1. Click the “Select” button across from Server.
    2. Click the “Configure” button in the Select Server dialog box.
    3. Enter calendar.fuqua.duke.edu into the Host List dialog box and click “OK”.
    4. Highlight the server Fuqua that should appear in the box on the right and click “Select”.
    5. Click “Sign-In”.
  6. After a short interval, the calendar opens.
