Why the Upgrade?

The latest version of Meeting Maker, version 8.5.3, provides performence enhancements to the native client and better support iCal files. In addition, it provides major improvements to the Meeting Maker Connector for Outlook (MMCO) and the HTML clients and the meetingmaker server.

How to Upgrade

You do not have to upgrade your native client to use this version. However, upgrading your client to this 8.5.3 version will keep you in sync with all the latest enhancements. Use the links on the left to download the client.

To install the new client, follow these steps:

  1. Save the downloaded file to your desktop or other known folder.
  2. Double-click the downloaded file (ClientInstall.exe). The Self-Extractor dialog box opens. Accept the default location by clicking “Unzip”. The setup files are extracted into a folder called MMSetup on your desktop or under the hard drive location you choose in the step above. When complete, close the Self-Extractor dialog box by clicking “Close”
  3. Navigate to the MMSetup folder. Double-click Setup.exe to start the Meeting Maker Calendar setup.
  4. Click through the wizards accepting the defaults.
    1. If you are Palm user, and have the Palm software installed, the Wizard asks if you want to install the conduits. If you have been syncing your Palm to Meetingmaker, click ‘Yes’.
    2. Select the conduits you wish to install: AddressBook is your contacts; DateBook is the calendar; ToDos is your todo list.
    3. When prompted about restarting HotSync manager, click ‘Yes’.
  5. If you are prompted to create a backup file of your local data, have the Wizard do so.
  6. When prompted to set Meeting Maker as your default calendar application, click“Yes”.
  7. Once completed, you are given the opportunity to start Meetingmaker. Do so.
  8. You will see the login screen. Enter your Meetingmaker userid and password and click  “Sign-In”. The server, Fuqua, should already be selected. If it is not, or you get a message saying the server could not be found, follow the directions below. Otherwise, skip to the next step.
    1. Click the “Select” button across from Server.
    2. Click the “Configure” button in the Select Server dialog box.
    3. Enter calendar.fuqua.duke.edu into the Host List dialog box and click “OK”.
    4. Highlight the server Fuqua that should appear in the box on the right and click “Select”.
    5. Click “Sign-In”.
  9. After a short interval, the calendar opens.

If you use the MMCO, then you must obtain the latest MMCO client or your Outlook syncing will fail. You should have received an e-mail with a link to download the client. If you did not recieive this e-mail or you need to request the MMCO client, you may do so here.
