This information is provided to the staff of the R. David Thomas Center as an aid in supporting visitors and teaching programs.

Troubleshooting Tips for "iogear" Remote Control Units in RDT Team Rooms:

- Make sure the Remote Control has fresh batteries (3V Type 2025, available in any drugstore)
- Confirm that the large-screen monitors are set to receive video input through "RGB1" via the toggle switch on the bottom right labeled "Input"
- Power down (unplug) and restart the iogear 8-port Video Access Switch (the "flying-saucer" like apparatus that connects all the video cables together)
- Make sure the laptop in question is sending its video output to the large screen. This function is usually activated via a Function key marked with a video icon on the laptop 's keyboard.

Team room computers should already be logged in with the default team room account.
In the event that it is not logged in, use the below information to log in:
Username: teamroom
Password: eestudent
Log On To: teamroom### (this computer)
- Connecting to Network Drives on Thomas Center PC's

Fuqua faculty, staff and students can access and save files to their respective network drives by following the directions listed below.
If you need to connect to a network drive, (such as your H: drive or the I: drive) complete the following steps:
1. Click "Start"
2. Click "Run"
3. Enter the path of the network drive:
H: \\galaxy\cifs.homedir
I: \\galaxy\everyone
Click "OK"
4. When prompted, enter username (FuquaNet ID) and password. (Username will use the following format: fuqua\username)
Click "OK"
5. When you no longer need access to your network drive, you will need to restart the computer to prevent other users from accessing your files.
- Connecting Your Laptop to Team Room Display Monitor

1. Connect any available VGA cable to your laptop (make a note of the number on the connector).
2. Use the "IO Gear" Remote to select the proper port that correlates to the number on the VGA cable.
3. To switch the display back to the team room computer, select port #7 on the "IO Gear" Remote.
Note: The "IO Gear" Remote has a very limited range. When using the remote, users should be within 3-4 feet of the display monitor.
"IO Gear" Remote Control Unit
1. VGA Display ON/OFF
Powers the unit's VGA display ON and OFF
2. Port Up / Port Down
Press these buttons to switch the video port to the Next or Previous computer in the series.
3. Port Selection
The numbers correspond to the VGA cables on the desktop. Press a button to switch the video port to any computer connected to the main unit, (1-6 for laptops, 7 for team room computer.)
- Mimio Boards in the Thomas Center Team Rooms
- "MimioBoard" is an interactive whiteboard that allows you to capture, share, and save your whiteboard notes.
1. The Mimio program, can be started by double-click the "Mimio Notebook" icon on the desktop or by writing on the white board with a Mimio marker. Either option will start a new Mimio session.
2. To open a new session, click the "New" icon on the far left of the tool bar.
3. To open a saved session, click the "Open Saved Session" icon on the tool bar.
4. To save data written on the Mimio board, click on the "Save" icon on the tool bar.
5. To print data written on the Mimio board, click on the "Print" icon on the tool bar.
6. To start a new page within the same session, click the "New Page" icon located to the right of the arrows on the tool bar. All pages created in the same Mimio session will be saved as one file, but must be printed individually.

Thomas Center team room technology allows you to print documents directly from your laptop through wireless or wired internet connection.
To print to the team room printer from your laptop, complete the steps listed below:
1. Verify that you have an Internet connection.
2. Click "Start"
3. Click "Run"
4. Type: \\teamroom###\printer, (where ### is the number of the team room) then click "OK"
Example for team room 205 would be:
These steps must be repeated if you go to a different team room and want to print.
- Printer Troubleshooting in the Thomas Center
- If you experience any problems printing from your laptop, try the following steps:
1. Verify that the printer is turned on and that there is paper in the printer.
2. Verify that the team room computer is powered on.
3. Verify that you are able to print from the team room computer.
4. Verify that you entered correct team room name when you added the printer to your laptop.
