Net IDs

  • You have two NetIDs, the first is your Duke NetID, and the second is your Fuqua NetID. Both have the same username, but independent (and initially different) passwords. They are used as follows:
    • Duke NetID used for:
      • E-Mail
      • FuquaWorld
      • Other Duke services
    • FuquaNet used for:
      • Computer lab logon
      • VPN access
      • Network Storage
      • CareerCompass

Once you receive your Duke NetID, you can retrieve the initial password for your Fuqua NetID by logging into FuquaWorld and clicking on the 'My Profile' link at the top right of the page. In the profile page, your password should be displayed under Original FuquaNet Password. We recommend you change your initial password right away, which can be done from the main FuquaWorld page under the Tech Tools section, then click Change my Duke/Fuqua passwords.

E-Mail

  • Your E-mail account is "YourNetID@duke.edu".  Your NetID is the 3 to 5 character ID assigned to you by OIT.  You may also have an e-mail alias of your choosing, which is usually firstname.lastname@duke.edu.  Both of these addresses are only valid for your time at Fuqua.  You can configure more email options at http://duke.edu/online, and access your email through webmail at http://webmail.duke.edu
  • Your Fuqua Lifetime E-mail Alias allows you to remain connected throughout your life as a student and later on as an alumnus.  You should share this address as your primary E-mail address.  To see and change the forwarding on your Fuqua Lifetime Alias please visit the Alumni information page.

AntiVirus

  • Duke has licensed McAfee VirusScan for your use while enrolled.  To download the software, please visit the MBA Software Download page.
  • Please be aware that you should only have one anti-virus application installed at any one time, so be sure to uninstall any other anti-virus software before installing McAfee.

Wireless access

  • You can gain wireless internet access on your laptop or WiFi-enabled mobile device on campus by connecting to the unsecured wireless network named DUKE.

Network storage

  • Fuqua provides network file space for personal data storage and team collaboration.  This  is accessed through the H: drive within My Computer on a Fuqua workstation or remotely using the Fuqua VPN.  It is not accessible via ExpressStations.
  • For more information on how to access the drive remotely, please visit the Fuqua IT website for more information about mapping your network drive and VPN access.
