Email and Calendar Accounts

Email Basics

While you are at The Fuqua School of Business you have one email account with an email alias that points to your email account.

  • netid@duke.edu - Your email account on the mail server.  If your Duke NetID is jbf99 your email address will be jbf99@duke.edu

  • firstname.lastname@duke.edu - Will be your email alias automatically set-up by Duke

Display Name

You are automatically assigned an email alias, usually your full firstname.lastname@duke.edu. If you choose, you can update your Duke alias at http://oit.duke.edu/selfservice under Manage Directory Listings. You can have up to two full name aliases active simultaneously. Each must be some form of your name.

Please note that Duke University reserves the right to revoke any alias.

Student Access to Email After Graduation

You will have access to your Duke email for approximately one year after graduation. For more detailed information please visit our Graduation page.

How to Access Your Duke Office 365 Email

Office 365 From Your Web Browser:

Follow this link for Office 365.

Laptop Email Client Set-Up Instructions:

Mobile Clients

Fuqua IT, highly recommends using the Microsoft Outlook app for both Android and iOS devices.

Viewing OrgSync/Canvas Calendars within Outlook

In order to view your individual calendars in one place, please follow the instructions below. This will allow you to add the calendar feed to OrgSync and Canvas through the Office Web App (OWA online) and then view the calendars within Outlook on your laptop.

Please note: these steps will allow you to view your OrgSync and Canvas calendars, however, this does not import the events into your actual Exchange calendar. If you wish these times to reflect as busy within your Exchange calendar, you will need to manually add each of these events yourself.

Email Signature

These email signatures are only examples and are not a requirement to using your email while at Duke. They should be able to be copied and modified into your email client on your laptop, desktop, phone, or via Outlook Web Access. Internet Explorer on Windows and Safari on the Mac seem to work the best for copying the signature from the page.

The Duke University Style Guide lists Garamond and Interstate as the primary fonts for Duke branding. Arial and Helvetica are good substitutes.

General Guidelines for proper format:

  • Font = Garamond
  • First two lines = 12 point and bold
  • Remaining lines = 11 point and normal
  • Second line is in Duke Blue (Hex triplet color #001A57)
